How FOWK Is Organized
Focused Teams, One Mission
Friends of Ondiri Wetland Kenya carries out its conservation and community work through dedicated departments, each built around a specific area of focus. Below are the departments currently active. As FOWK grows, more will be added to this page.
Citizen Science
Citizen Science Department
Led by James Gichomo, this department trains volunteers in biodiversity monitoring, soil science and molecular lab techniques built on experience gained with KEFRI. Weekly Thursday plant talks, a tree nursery supporting Kenya's Jaza Miti campaign, and partnerships with TICAH Trust and Nature Kenya connect community members directly to real conservation research.

Young Environmentalists
Young Environmentalists Club
Chaired by Josphat Muthoni, this department partners with schools around Ondiri Wetland to set up environmental clubs and tree nurseries, teaching learners to plant indigenous species and adopt organic farming, agroforestry and responsible waste disposal. The programme is currently active in 30 schools within a 5km radius of Kikuyu.
