Today, the world comes together to mark World Cleanup Day, a powerful reminder that a clean environment is not created by one person, one organization, or one day. It is built through collective responsibility and consistent action.

At Friends of Ondiri Wetland Kenya, we believe that environmental conservation starts with people, and especially with the young generation. Through our school Environmental Clubs, we are empowering learners to become environmental champions in their schools, homes and communities.

Our clubs promote practical environmental action, including waste reduction and segregation, recycling and reuse, tree growing, school greening, biodiversity conservation, water protection, environmental education and citizen science.

We believe that a child who learns to care for a school compound today can grow into a citizen who protects an entire ecosystem tomorrow.

World Cleanup Day therefore goes beyond picking up litter. It is about changing mindsets, reducing the waste we generate, protecting our water sources, restoring degraded spaces and creating communities where cleanliness and environmental responsibility become a way of life.

From our work around Ondiri Wetland to schools and communities, Friends of Ondiri Wetland Kenya remains committed to building a culture of environmental stewardship, one learner, one school, one community and one ecosystem at a time.

Clean surroundings. Healthy communities. Thriving ecosystems.
