Strategic Conservation Partnership with ACOPPHE Kenya

In our ongoing quest to build stronger and more impactful partnerships, we held a productive meeting with the Director and Founder of ACOPPHE, Dr. Nathan Utchmann, and the Partnerships Director, Mr. Maison Kapila, at the organisation’s country headquarters in Tigoni, Kenya.

ACOPPHE recently hosted a highly successful international conference in the Maasai Mara, further reaffirming its leadership in environmental and indigenous peoples’ advocacy. We are proud that ACOPPHE continues to be a strategic partner and a key supporter of Friends of Ondiri Wetland, having sponsored the 4th Edition of the Ondiri Wetland Conservation Run.

We also warmly congratulate Mr. Maison Kapila on his appointment as the Africa's focal point for the Indigenous Peoples Caucus at the United Nations during COP30, which was held in Belém, Brazil. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to his dedication to indigenous rights and global environmental stewardship.

Friends of Ondiri Wetland Kenya greatly values these partnerships as we collectively work towards better-conserved and resilient ecosystems. We look forward to deepening this collaboration and achieving even greater impact in the coming year, 2026.

I was accompanied during the meeting by our Partnerships Coordinator, Ms. Sarah Waminja. Following the meeting, we visited Manguo Wetland in Limuru, where we observed an urgent need for conservation and protection interventions. In response, we plan to embark on community awareness, advocacy, and conservation initiatives for this vital wetland starting in the coming year.

Together, through strong partnerships and community engagement, we remain committed to safeguarding our wetlands and nurturing a sustainable future.
