Date of Visit: 22th May 2026
Introduction
Yesterday, the Friends of Ondiri Young Environmentalists Club visited Kaito School as part of our ongoing effort to establish the Club in learning institutions. The visit aimed to introduce our environmental programs, assess the school’s readiness, and agree on joint activities that promote conservation among learners.
Representation and Meeting
The Friends of Ondiri team was represented by Josphat, Jackie, and Kim. We held a productive meeting with Teacher Lilian, who warmly received us. She expressed the school’s strong willingness to partner with us on environmental activities and support student-led conservation initiatives.
Site Assessment and Agreed Activities
After assessing the school compound and considering the age group of the learners, we agreed on a set of activities to be conducted at Kaito School. These include:
- Tree planting – to green the school compound and teach learners about ecosystem restoration.
- Environmental talk – an interactive session on wetland conservation, waste management, and climate action.
- Team-building activities – to strengthen collaboration and environmental stewardship among students.
- Litter collection – a hands-on clean-up exercise to instill responsibility for the school environment.
Teacher Lilian committed to consulting her seniors and will host the Friends of Ondiri team during the first week of June, between Wednesday and Friday. She will confirm the exact date and communicate it to us.
Next Steps
Following the activities above, we will engage learners in forming their own internal School Environmental Club. This club will be student-led and will continue environmental activities beyond our visit. Teacher Lilian also indicated that, after our engagement, the school plans to organize a visit to Ondiri Wetland. This will give the learners an opportunity to experience our conservation work firsthand.
Conclusion
Kaito School has been a consistent supporter of our conservation work. The school participated in the Conservation Business Expo held on 30th January 2026, and this visit reaffirms their commitment to environmental education. We look forward to a strong partnership with Kaito School as we nurture young environmentalists.
