Green Garden Schools Young Scientists Visit Ondiri Wetland

Today, we were delighted to host young scientists from Green Garden Schools at Ondiri Wetland, one of Kenya’s most important freshwater ecosystems.

The learners explored the critical role of Ondiri Wetland as the primary source of water for the residents of Kikuyu and as a vital habitat for numerous bird species and other forms of biodiversity.

Beyond learning, the students took meaningful climate action by planting indigenous and fruit trees, demonstrating that environmental stewardship begins with small but impactful actions.

When young people connect with nature, they grow into informed and responsible custodians of the environment. Through school environmental clubs, mentorship, and hands-on activities, we can inspire a generation that values conservation, protects wetlands, and champions sustainable development.

Together, we are nurturing young scientists, growing trees, and safeguarding our natural heritage for generations to come.
