Good Friday Week Highlights: Health and Nature at Ondiri Wetland

This Good Friday week has been remarkably eventful at Ondiri Wetland, marked by impactful conservation, learning, and vibrant community engagement.

From Monday to Tuesday, our dedicated team successfully propagated over 1,000 bamboo seedlings, significantly advancing our restoration efforts. On Wednesday, we were honored to host Nature Kenya for their weekly bird-watching activity, which attracted about 50 participants and recorded an impressive 60 bird species.

Yesterday, we concluded the week with a well-attended training session in collaboration with TICAH. The session featured Sebastian Teh, who delivered insightful teachings on lifestyle medicine, nutrition, exercise, and holistic healing. The event drew over 200 participants, reflecting strong and growing community engagement.

As Friends of Ondiri, we are delighted by these meaningful partnerships and the increasing involvement of the community. Tomorrow (Saturday), we will join the county leadership and residents of Kiambu County for a diabetes awareness event featuring triple activities: running, skating, and cycling. The event will take place along the picturesque route from Tigoni Tea Plantation to Ndumberi Stadium.

Looking ahead to Easter Monday (6th April), we will host a conservation cycling event aimed at promoting non-motorised transport around Kikuyu Sub-County, in partnership with Safari Simbaz.

Overall, it has been a highly productive and inspiring week, advancing conservation, health awareness, and sustainable community action.
