Gambian Forestry Delegation Visits Ondiri Wetland to Benchmark Nairobi River Regeneration

The Nairobi Rivers Commission (NRC) yesterday hosted a Gambian forestry delegation led by the Director General of Forestry, who visited Kenya to benchmark the Nairobi River Regeneration Project.
The delegation visited Ondiri Wetland, the source of the Nairobi River, the Kenya Forest Service seedling model project at Lenana, Kamukunji Community Centre, and Point Zero at Lucky summer.
The visit focused on catchment protection, afforestation, riparian restoration and urban sewerage management. The team also collected water samples at Ondiri and downstream to appreciate the impact of pollution and the importance of river regeneration.
The Gambian team commended the interventions and shared insights that will inform similar efforts in The Gambia.
As we prepare for the rains, protecting riparian areas and keeping our rivers clean remains a shared responsibility.
