As the source of the Nairobi River, Ondiri Wetland remains one of Kenya’s most important freshwater and peatland ecosystems. The visit highlighted the value of international partnerships, community stewardship, and collaborative conservation in protecting wetlands and biodiversity for present and future generations.

The delegation was also accompanied by officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and renowned Kenyan cyclist David Kinja, whose presence added inspiration to the day’s activities.

Friends of Ondiri Wetland Kenya extends its sincere gratitude to Minister O’Sullivan, Ambassador Ingoldsby, and the Embassy of Ireland for visiting the wetland and for their encouragement of community-led conservation initiatives. Their visit reaffirms the growing global recognition of Ondiri Wetland and the importance of protecting such vital natural heritage.
