Yesterday, Friends of Ondiri Wetland Kenya had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Onkaru WRUA led by Prof. David Ngugi. He was accompanied by Mr. Nyoro and Madam Margaret.
The team visited Ondiri Wetland to assess the progress of the Nairobi River Regeneration and Rehabilitation Project. During the visit, they were taken through the ongoing restoration efforts and the impact the project is having in rehabilitating this critical wetland ecosystem.
The delegation was also pleased to learn about the Citizen Science Program being implemented by Friends of Ondiri Wetland Kenya. This initiative empowers community members, especially young people, to actively participate in environmental monitoring, research, and conservation.
Prof. Ngugi and his team were particularly impressed by the exceptional coordination, strong leadership, and dedication demonstrated by the youth in spearheading community-led conservation efforts. Their visit was a great encouragement and a clear testament to the power of partnerships and grassroots action in protecting our water resources and restoring vital ecosystems for future generations
